Chiropractic Care in Belmont

Has chronic pain been holding you back from living your best life? You are not the only one. The American Chiropractic Association reports that roughly 31 million Americans experience pain at any given time. We tend to forget that the body is a complicated structure. It has hundreds of bones, ligaments, and muscles.

Back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain generally occur when something is off in the way your spinal joints, muscles, discs, and nerves fit together and move. A lot is riding on your spinal column since it’s your body’s primary structural support. Its main purpose is to help keep you balanced enough to stand upright but flexible enough to make various movements. So, it is not surprising that so many people experience multiple forms of pain from time to time.

When it comes to modern chiropractic care, it assumes that misalignment in the spine results in pain. Chiropractic care is a patient-focused, non-invasive, hands-on therapy that focuses on the spine, muscles, joints, and the nervous system. Chiropractors can diagnose issues that affect your body’s movement and get to the root cause of the problem.

Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care in Belmont

The upper cervical spine is the topmost portion of the spine that supports the weight of the skull and provides a wide range of motion. The upper cervical spine is also known as the craniocervical junction, which is made up of the base of the skull (occipital), first cervical segment(atlas), and second cervical segment (axis).

Upper cervical chiropractic care focuses on correcting misalignments in the upper neck region of your spine — called subluxations. Upper cervical manipulation adjusts the upper spine, affecting the whole body and allowing the central nervous system to communicate properly with the rest of your body.

Powerful Acoustic Waves to Relieve Aches and Pains
StemWave is a regenerative medicine technique that utilizes harmless, yet powerful acoustic waves to activate your body’s natural healing mechanisms. This new technology is designed to help patients with musculoskeletal conditions by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation. As a safe non-invasive option, it doesn’t require any downtime and has minimal or no side-effects.

Sports Injury Care in Belmont

Sports injuries are not just limited to professional athletes. However, due to the aggressive nature of sports, especially for high impact (like running and tennis) and contact (like football and lacrosse) sports, injuries are prevalent, even for amateur athletes.

Our Belmont chiropractor treats a wide range of acute and chronic sports-related injuries. We understand that when you play sports, you physically push your body to its limits, which can sometimes result in an injury, like a sprain or strain or tendinitis. That is why at Saviano Chiropractic Center, we believe that chiropractic treatment in sports is now a necessity.

Pediatric Care

A child’s nervous system is just like an adult’s – it controls and regulates all the other systems in their growing body. From blood flow to brain function and bone growth, the nervous system plays a significant role in ensuring that the body is working and healthy. Stress and misalignment of the spine can negatively impact your child’s overall health, behavior, and development.

Stress and trauma to the body and spine can begin with the birthing process. It is easy for an infant’s spines to become misaligned from the intense pressure involved with birth, both natural and Cesarean. Unfortunately, other than crying, babies have no other way of communicating their pain and what is causing the pain. Throughout the infant stage, babies may sleep in awkward positions or occasionally take a tumble. And as they become children, they grow into toddlers who strain while learning to crawl and walk.

Luckily, their bodies are very resilient and can take a lot of force, though these injuries can develop into patterns of movement that can cause a child’s bones to misalign over time. Chiropractic care is entirely safe for children of all ages, and our chiropractic clinic understands the needs of children.

Prenatal Care

When your body starts preparing to create a nurturing environment for the development of a baby, it goes through numerous changes, both physically and endocrinologically. Changes can include misaligned spine or joints, protruding abdomen and increased back curve, changes in your pelvis, and postural adaptions. According to the American Pregnancy website, if your pelvis is misaligned, this means that there is not enough room available for the developing baby. Chiropractic care can help establish balance in your pelvic and align your spine.

Auto Accident Injury Care

In our car-obsessed society, being in an accident seems almost inevitable. Few things in this world are more distressing than being in a car accident. The act of hitting a car or getting hit by another vehicle is violent and traumatizing. Most people are left in a confused, anxious state while trying to figure out what just occurred.

And for most people, after an accident, their main concern is that no one is seriously injured, and quickly assess the damage done to their property. It is vital to check on your car, but the issue with that is people tend to forget to be concerned about the damage the collision has caused to their own bodies.

Woman suffering whiplash after an auto accident
Our chiropractor at Saviano Chiropractic Center in the Belmont-area want people to know that even though there might be a small amount of damage done to their car, they can still experience injuries. Injuries related to an auto accident injury can be tricky and often don’t appear right away since being in an accident causes a boost in adrenaline. Therefore, you should get medical attention sooner rather than later.

The reason people need to be examined by a chiropractor after an accident is because when you experience a forceful impact, it can cause the spinal column to move out of alignment. Accidents can also cause injuries like whiplash, which generally don’t immediately show-up – sometimes taking weeks to arise.

Neuropathy Treatment in Belmont

According to WebMD, peripheral neuropathy refers to the condition that results when nerves that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord from and to the rest of the body are damaged or diseased. These damaged nerves interrupt communication between the brain and the rest of the body, impair movement in the muscles, prevent normal sensation in the arms and legs, and cause pain. The damage to a peripheral nerve is called mononeuropathy and is usually caused by trauma from an accident.

Neuropathy Testing and Treatment Belmont
It is common for people with peripheral neuropathy to be subjected to various degrees of pain. At Saviano Chiropractic Center in Belmont, our goal is to help manage the condition causing your neuropathy and help you find relief.

People with peripheral neuropathy describe their pain as stabbing, burning, or tingling, and they can also lose sensation in their arms and legs. Neuropathy can affect the following:

Sensory nerves: Nerves that control sensation. Injury to these nerves can cause tingling, numbness, or weakness in limbs.
Motor nerves: Nerves that help with power and movement. Any damage can cause weakening of the feet and hands.
Autonomic nerves: Nerves that control body systems like the digestive or cardiovascular system. Damage to these nerves can negatively affect heart rate, blood pressure, and other functions.
